Leading internet solutions firm Thomas Cole chosen for college's website makeover

Wigan & Leigh College are getting a new look to their website thanks to an innovative approach to choosing a web design firm. The college is the only General Further & Higher Education College in the towns of Wigan and Leigh and serves a population of over 300,000. It needed a bright and vibrant web presence that also clearly demonstrated the breadth and scope of courses that are offered.

As a way of choosing a web design firm, three companies were invited to submit proposals for an updated and revamped website and the potential designs were then displayed around the college. Both staff and students were invited to submit feedback forms, giving their verdict on the different designs and how well they fitted in with the image and ethos of the college.

The college has since given the thumbs up to Chorley-based internet design company Thomas Cole.

“We chose Thomas Cole Internet Solutions due to their commitment to high quality service,” explains Kathryn O'Neill, Marketing and Admissions Manager from Wigan & Leigh College, “we were impressed with other websites they had designed and developed and their initial creative concepts for the college's new website were very impressive and fitted our brief perfectly. We are now underway with the design and development of the new website and it promises to be much more appealing to all of our students, parents and employees, as well as the local community.”

“We are delighted to have been chosen by such a prestigious organisation,” adds Ross Johnson, Managing Director of Thomas Cole, “we hope that the website will bring a much more modern feel to the college's web presence and that it will be an example to other schools and colleges in the surrounding area. We will be working closely with all the staff and students at the college to make it as fresh, exciting and user friendly as possible.”

The website will be launched sometime in the summer period and both the college and Thomas Cole Internet Solutions are looking forward to working together again in the future.
